The recent airstrike in Damascus resulted in Iranian retaliation. A senior leader from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force was killed in the attack. The commander, Gen. Mohammad Reza Zahedi, was responsible for overseeing Iranian paramilitary operations in Syria and Lebanon. The Revolutionary Guard confirmed that seven of its members, including senior military advisers, were killed in the strike. Additionally, diplomatic staff members were also killed. Syria and Iran have blamed Israel for the attack, but Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility.
